The Swiss company RepaperART does this awesome LUCKYOU paper jewelry, which is handmade in South Africa and Switzerland.

We like LUCKYOU because it is truly unique and each piece makes a great eco-chic fashion statement. Isn’t it fascinating that the necklaces are made of recycled fashion magazines and that the cute bangles are knitted from paper wool?

But it is not only the innovative approach to fashion jewelry and recycling that makes this brand so special. The story behind is quite unique, too. Owner and Founder, Swiss Stefanie Luginbühl, a former teacher, was always fascinated by paper as a raw material. Since starting her company RepaperART doing « recycled paper art » in 2005, she gathered extensive experience with « paper art ». While traveling in South Africa she was deeply touched by the poor living circumstances and decided to try and do something about it.

Her objective can be summarized as follows: provide work to economically empower impoverished women without using valuable resources that might put them at risk. This was how her idea for handmade paper jewelry from used fashion magazines was born.

We have to say we really like what Stefanie has come up with so far. The success of this 2-year-old cooperation is evident. Currently, LUCKYOU supports about 60 people in a township in Cape Town by offering 20 women an opportunity to earn a living for themselves and their families. Many of the women are young single mothers.

Due to the increasing demand and the successful cooperation with her local team, Stefanie plans to open a second group of women and to add a new collection.

We think LUCKYOU is great because you buy some cute fashion jewelry that is quite unique and fun to wear while doing good.

But go and see for yourself. Enjoy!

« Hebz' LOVE and PEACE Bracelets Make Great Charitable Gifts »

London born fashion designer Heba Elawadi of Egyptian-Moroccan descent always knew she wanted to be in fashion. She studied fashion design and marketing at the American Intercontinental University in London. Finishing her studies at the age of 18 she launched her debut collection SS2008. Her label HEBZ' versatile hip yet classic pieces already made quite some fans among celebrities. As a sign for her success Mohamed Al Fayed personally offered her to sell her collection at Harrods London!

But Heba not solely focuses on her career. She is also eager to give back. Therefore she created the awesome must have LOVE and PEACE charity bracelets. A percentage of the sales benefits the SOS Children's Villages, an international non-governmental social development organization that has been active in the field of children's rights and committed to children's needs and concerns since 1949. They focus on children without parental care and children of families in difficult circumstances in 132 countries and territories.

Heba's cute LOVE and PEACE bracelets are available in silver or gold and you have the choice among a variety of colors in waxed cotton or leather. We believe the lovely charm bracelets make great gifts for girls - even more so because they are a charitable item. A classic win-win situation!

But go and see for yourself. Enjoy!

Charitable Gift: One Tribe's Charitable T-shirts - Do Good One Tee at a Time

« onetribe.com Sets New Standards in Terms of Social Entrepreneurship »

The branding and marketing firm One Tribe Creative LLC, Colorado established the apparel e-shop One Tribe.com in August 2009.

The apparel site is the extension of One Tribe Creative LLC's commitment to provide support socially and environmentally responsible organizations and the 10% of their billable hours they already donate to non-profits. One Tribe's mission is to create a sustainable revenue stream for many non-profit organizations. The apparel site’s purpose is to empower the consumer by offering organic t-shirts with a deeper sense – t-shirts that help sustain humanitarian needs in equal measures. As they say “you give as much as you give”.

The company sets new standards in terms of social entrepreneurship.

But which non—profits do they support and how does it work? One Tribe selected some charities that represent a diversity of global regions and causes. All of them non-profit organizations and that have a proven track record of accountability and results without having any political or religious connections or agendas. In a next step they have designed a men’s and women’s t-shirt for each of the charities selected using symbols representing their charitable cause.

For each charitable cause you can purchase a men’s or women’s version – each available in two colors. 50% of the purchase is a direct donation to the respective charity, which in turn is deemed to provide them with a sustainable revenue stream to have sufficient means to continue their work. At check-out you even receive a statement via the invoice confirming how much you’ve donated to said charity.

Currently, One Tribe supports:

All t-shirts are eco-friendly as they are digitally printed with water-based inks on organic cotton and shipped in recycled cereal boxes.

If you want to find out which design you like best or which charity you want to support with your purchase please visit their website to learn more about this great project. And be sure to check in with them from time to time - One Tribe's mission is to expand beyond the current six non-profits.

But go and see for yourself.

Enjoy!
