« Purchasing 46664 Charity Bangles Helps Fighting HIV/AIDS in South Africa »

In 2003 the Nelson Mandela Foundation established the 46664 Foundation, a health charity. The 46664 Foundation is a wholly owned non-profit subsidiary of the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Its objective is to raise awareness and provide education through entertainment.

The foundation is named after Nelson Mandela’s prison number – he was prisoner 466 imprisoned in 1964. The « 46664 bangles » are part of a campaign that was launched last year at the Hyde Park Concert for Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.

46664 bangles and accompanying boxes are hand-made by craftsmen in South Africa. Bangles are available in two sizes and you may choose between Silver, Gold or Platinum versions. Each bangle has a serial number, which you may register on the projects website and post an individual message.

By buying a 46664 bangle you help create sustainable living conditions of people affected by HIV/Aids in South Africa. We believe they make a great gift for someone who has already everything. Ever thought about charity gifts?

What is so special is that you can effectively track the bangle’s origin, i.e. the artist that handcrafted it. So you literally see how your purchase is linked to the improvement of their living conditions.

Please visit the campaigns website to see where you can physically buy those charitable items in your country of residence. In Germany you can buy them for instance at WEMPE jewelery stores, which decided to support the project with their distribution network. Alternatively you may buy them online via the 46664 website.

Isn’t it great to try to help prevent the spread of HIV/Aids by contributing to the funding of community organizations that assist those affected the most?
