We highly recommend visiting the Glienicker Bruecke, which is right on the city's border to Potsdam. This is the famous bridge where the East and West used to swap agents during the Cold War. You can still see the white mark, which signified the border between East and West. Right behind Glienicker Bruecke is Villa Schoeningen, a private museum dedicated to the history of the Cold War.
The other thing we'd recommend would be a tour through Berlin's underground such as the «Tour M – Breaching the Berlin Wall - Subterranean Escapes from East Berlin to West Berlin» to experience the city's history differently.
Alternatively, there is the new travel website Gidsy, a Berlin start-up, which provides some more inspiration for off the beaten track discoveries.
And, last but not least if you are a foodie and have some money to spare, you should check out our favorite restaurant in Berlin: Tim Raue. A six-course menu costs about Euro 150 excluding drinks but there are so many amuse-bouches and additional courses such as pre- and post-dessert courses that the entire menu easily sums up to 10 to 12 courses in total. Every course is such a great combination of flavors that you will be on a luxurious gastronomic discovery for some hours. Surprisingly you don’t mind your full stomach afterwards since it is still sort of light and healthy. We love it! Try it and tell us how you liked it.
Enjoy!
