We recommend starting the shopping tour with a stroll through Mulackstrasse in Berlin-Mitte, which is packed with some great fashion boutiques and concept stores.
We would start right at the Lala Berlin flagship store on Mulackstrasse 7, which is a must visit in our view. We simply can't get enough of their beautiful knitwear and printed scarves.
Just across the street is Dumitrassu or whatever the name is, a concept store for unique fashion finds. The shop looks more like an art space and some of the items on display look more like a piece of art such as the „Teppichpullover“, a V-neck sweater merged with an oriental rug. But, such an extraordinary selection makes a visit of their store only more interesting. And, they sell some truly wearable clothes that you won't find anywhere else in Berlin. Which is very nice if you aren't into "lookalikes". We bought a beautiful shirt by Austrian designer Julia Heuer and love it very much.
The tiny stationery shop RSVP further up towards Auguststrasse, on Mulackstrasse 14 and fashion concept store Schwarzhogerzeil on Mulackstrasse 28 are also worthwhile a visit. Schwarzhogerzeil is another fashion treasure trove with labels such as Isabel Marant, Tsumori Chisato, Zucca, KJacques, Cacharel etc.
Next you should take the Auguststrasse and visit Konk on Kleine Hamburger Strasse 15, a boutique dedicated to German labels. We particularly like their selection of beautiful Laserprint scarves by Hui- Hui and Ann Tian and the beautiful silk dresses by the shop owner's label Thone Negrón.
Next you could head for a bite at Cocolo Ramen or Sushi bar Kuchi, two cozy restaurants next to each other on Gipserstrasse, which is on your tour on Auguststrasse further West.
To continue your shopping feast we would recommend heading to Friedrichstrasse and Gendarmenmarkt. There is the fashion concept store The Corner in case you are interested to buy some international designer fashion such as Lanvin, Hervé Léger, Céline or Cameo accessories by Amedeo. It is located right at Gendarmenmarkt (entry on Knesebeckstrasse 32).
Another must visit is the department store Quartier 206 on Friedrichstrasse 71, which is just around the corner. The departmentstore Cabinet at Quartier 206 offers labels such as Marni, Marc Jacobs or the latest denim must haves by Mother Denim or Acne. They also sell the stylish Molami head phones.
Upstairs is a Schumacher boutique, Schumacher is one of our favorite German labels. They sell beautiful clothes for the modern, everyday princess. They manage to translate the latest trends into something gorgeous yet truly wearable such as airy summer dresses in bright colors, tight fitting coats or shirts and jackets with beautiful embroideries. They have another even bigger store in Charlottenburg.
But, let's continue our tour at department store Quartier 206 as we have to mention their beauty department, which is another must stop by on our trips to Berlin. They carry some of our favorite beauty labels such as The Organic Pharmacy and Deborah Lippmann nail care. The latter offers non-toxic nail polish in the hottest shades of the season.
If you are into all things beauty, you will have a great time here as there is so much to discover. They also offer some niche skin care brands for men such as Kyoku or Firma's skin care for men. And, after all it is an ideal place to buy a unique little something since the gift-wrapping is great, too.
If you are hungry by now, you could have a bite at famous restaurant Borchardt, a type of French brasserie just around the corner on Franzoesische Strasse, which is a classic. Alternatively, there are two great vegetarian restaurants nearby: Cookies Cream and Chipps.
If you are still up for some more shopping inspiration, you should walk further down to Kronenstrasse 71 and visit Oukan 71, a hip new Japanese fashion and design concept store. They carry some Japanese unisex designer fashion, some international fashion labels for women, beautiful accessories such as wood jewelry, hand-painted Bauhaus inspired porcelain by Hedwig Bollhagen, a small workshop outside Berlin etc. The place is not so easy to find but well worth a visit. It is located at a former art gallery and the interior is just awesome, too. And, on top it is a great place to pause for a moment and have a drink, since they have a coffee bar and restaurant on their 2nd floor. There you might enjoy some Matcha tea, indulge over some great pastry by one of the city best pastry chefs or opt for some Japanese food such as their Bento boxes. Check out this article on Artberlin for some great pictures of Oukan 71's interior.
If you are looking for some unique men’s wear you should check out tie manufacturer Edsor Kronen, whose owner we refer to as the Tom Ford of ties. More on this unique fashion label here.
Another interesting place to visit could be Potsdamerstrasse further west with its many art galleries such as Klosterfelde, Nolan Judin, Blain Southern etc. and the awesome fashion concept store Andreas Murkudis.
If you have done enough shopping by now, you might want to experience Berlin off-the- beaten track - assuming you have already done the city's highlights such as Nofretete at Neue Nationalgalerie, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and the Castle Sanssouci in Potsdam to mention some. We have some recommendations on what else there is worthwhile to see in Berlin.
Enjoy!
